Salem, Indiana – Wendy Mae (Zink) Davis, a beloved community member and former BF Goodrich employee, passed away at the age of 99 on September 21, 2024, at the Bee Hive Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born on February 4, 1925, in Salem, she lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Wendy Mae was the eldest of three children born to Hazel Grubb Zink and Merle Zink. She grew up alongside her two brothers, Lanny Zink of Salem and Charles Irvin Zink of Columbus, Indiana. Wendy graduated from Salem High School in 1943, where she developed a passion for home economics and built lifelong friendships.
An active member of the Salem Church of Christ, Wendy regularly attended events at the Salem Senior Centre. She was also a part of several local card-playing groups, which she enjoyed immensely. In her later years, after retiring, Wendy spent much of her time with friends, engaging in activities like fishing, camping, and farming. Her radiant personality, infectious smile, and joyful laughter made her a beloved figure in the community.
Wendy Mae cherished her family and frequently organized gatherings for holidays and special occasions. She leaves behind her brother Lanny, her children Danny Wayne and Marla, and her granddaughter Kelsey. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, Indiana, on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Bee Hive Home in Scottsburg or the Salem Senior Centre in honor of Wendy’s memory.
