Lexington, SC – Virginia A. McCuen, affectionately known as “Gina,” passed away on September 15, 2024, at the age of 81, after a prolonged battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A prominent business owner and community leader in Lexington, South Carolina, Gina will be remembered for her dedication to both her professional and personal life.
Her memorial service is set to take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington. Visitation will follow the service, and light refreshments will be served.
Gina’s impact on the Lexington community was profound. As the franchise owner of Snelling and Snelling since 1982, she contributed to the employment of over 1,700 individuals, generating more than $28 million in collective wages. Her franchise consistently ranked among the top 100 of 300 nationwide and earned her prestigious awards like The Million Dollar Club and Regional Manager of the Year.
Born on February 10, 1943, in Farmville, North Carolina, Gina pursued higher education with a Bachelor’s degree from Barton College and a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Ohio University. Beyond her professional success, she broke barriers as the first female president of the St. Andrews Kiwanis Club and served on various boards, including the Lexington County Zoning Board of Adjustments.
Gina’s legacy extends through her activism, particularly in organizations like the League of Women Voters and the Girl Scouts. Her vibrant spirit and leadership will be remembered by many. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth and Virginia “Ginger” Smith, her stepson Shannon, and numerous grandchildren.
