Kemptville, Ontario – Rowan Dean, a 16-year-old boy from Kemptville and a track and field athlete, tragically passed away suddenly during a run.
Rowan was a dedicated member of the North Grenville District High School’s track and field team and a part of the Brockville Track and Field Club.
His sudden passing has left his community and family devastated.
The cause of his death has been linked to an undiagnosed congenital heart condition, which caused heart failure during his run.
The news was first shared on social media by his grandmother, where friends and family expressed their sorrow.
Jon Nisbett shared, “16-year-old Rowan Dean, a boy from Kemptville, Ontario, just died suddenly while out running.”
Rowan’s friend, Con Ching, also mentioned that Rowan had a heart condition since birth and hadn’t taken his medication that day.
Many others on social media, like Penny Petersen Côté, expressed concern about the rising number of sudden deaths among young people.
Rowan was known for his dedication to his training and academics, often inspiring those around him with his hard work and positive attitude.
The community now mourns the loss of such a bright and promising young life.
