His son, Simon, shared the news, expressing his gratitude to the many friends, family members, and colleagues who supported his father throughout his life, particularly during his final year and a half fighting the illness. Pierre passed away peacefully in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon, with a service to be held in Thunder Bay this week. For those unable to attend, a livestream option will be made available.
Tributes have poured in from those who knew Pierre, highlighting his forward-thinking mindset and deep friendships. John Mason wrote, "Your Dad was a special friend. Pierre and I enjoyed good conversations over coffee. Your Dad was always forward thinking: technology, metals, finance… will miss him, deepest sympathy to you and family."
David Glover, a friend from Amethyst Harbour, also shared his condolences, stating, "He was a friend to all of us at Amethyst Harbour and was passionate about his rural home on the big lake."
