Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Owen Ragsdale, a six-year-old boy, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, following a courageous 10-month battle with CNS Sarcoma, a rare form of brain cancer. Owen’s family and the community are mourning his loss while celebrating the strength and bravery he demonstrated throughout his fight.
Owen was diagnosed with CNS Sarcoma on November 22, 2023, a cancer that affects only 0.2% of intracranial lesions. Despite undergoing two emergency craniotomies, a major brain hemorrhage, and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Owen never lost his spirit, always greeting his family with a smile and words of love.
His family, including his twin brother Rhett, sister Collins, and parents Megan and Josh Ragsdale, expressed gratitude for the support they have received. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Megan Ragsdale shared, “Our sweet Owen is no longer in any pain… I am SO proud to be your mama Owen, I will love you forever and always, ‘to Pluto and back times one thousand.’”
Community members have rallied around the Ragsdale family, offering prayers and words of comfort. Running4 Owen shared, “Peace and blessings to you all,” and acknowledged Owen’s peaceful passing 10 months after his diagnosis. Nancy Horton posted, “What a beautiful angel. Prayers and hugs to the family,” while Julie Smith expressed, “Heartbroken.”
The family has found solace knowing Owen is “running in heaven with his great-grandparents and Phoggy dog,” and that he is now free from pain and discomfort. Supporters have been invited to contribute to a GoFundMe campaign to help with the medical expenses and ongoing challenges faced by the family, who have been juggling their small business alongside Owen’s treatments.
Updates regarding funeral arrangements and continued support will be shared in the coming days as the family prepares to say their goodbyes to their beloved warrior, Owen Ragsdale.
