Cheektowaga, New York – Maurice “Moe” Elliott Ricks, a well-known painter and dedicated father, tragically passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 47, following a sudden health crisis. Born on June 21, 1977, in Staten Island, New York, Moe was a beloved member of his community, known for his vibrant personality and passion for his work and family.
Moe Ricks was the son of Bertha and Nicky Ricks Sr. He graduated from New Dorp High School in 1995 before pursuing higher education at Buffalo State College, where he studied business and played basketball. He later transferred to Oneonta State College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business while continuing to excel in sports.
A talented painter, Moe ran his own business, transforming homes and businesses across the community. His skill ranged from large commercial projects to personalized touches in his children’s rooms, reflecting his creativity and dedication to his craft.
Moe’s love for sports extended to his family life, as he enthusiastically supported his children in their various activities, including baseball, hockey, and dance. He was a regular presence at their events, whether cheering from the stands or offering guidance behind the scenes. Moe’s energetic spirit made him a beloved figure among parents and coaches alike.
Beyond his work and family, Moe had a passion for Chinese food and cherished moments at home with his dog Milo, who was a constant companion, often amusing family members during their FaceTime calls.
Moe is survived by his brothers Theodore Ricks, Nicky Ricks, and Jerome Williams, his ex-wife Lindsay Ricks, and their children, Jayden Amare Ricks and Nya Sophia Ricks. He is also remembered by his best friend Jamie Molino and her son Seven, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Moe was preceded in death by his grandfather Ruth Williams and his brother Richard Williams.
A visitation will be held on September 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., at PACER FUNERAL HOME, INC., located at 2275 George Urban Blvd., Depew. A service to honor Moe’s life will follow at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Camp Good Days, the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, or local organizations supporting children with cancer.
Moe Elliott Ricks will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and community spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
