St. Ignace, MI – The Mackinac County community is grieving the loss of longtime Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Harrigan, who passed away unexpectedly. Deputy Harrigan dedicated 17 years of his life to serving the county, both as a law enforcement officer and as an EMT with Straits Area EMS.
Sheriff Wilk expressed deep sadness in announcing Deputy Harrigan’s passing, highlighting his many contributions to the Sheriff’s Office and his lasting impact on the community. Harrigan was known for his friendly demeanor and dedication to helping others, both in his professional roles and beyond.
Deputy Harrigan is survived by his wife, Jessica, and their two children, aged 13 and 15. The void left by his absence will be felt by his family, colleagues, and the many residents of Mackinac County who had the privilege of knowing him.

The news of Isaac Harrigan’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media, with many community members and colleagues expressing their sorrow.
Bethany White shared, “Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Isaac was my older brother. My heart is heavy and filled with pain. I still can’t believe he’s gone.”
Sheianne Brooks posted, “Awe this is sad. I loved him, he was a great officer and always in good spirits. This is sad, I’ll be praying for his families.”
Dustin Stempki expressed, “Shocking and devastating when I heard last night of his passing. What a good person to work with, and he was super dedicated to helping the great citizens of Mackinac County and the visiting public. Such a young life lost. Rest easy Isaac Harrigan.”
The Bois Blanc Island Fire Department also mourned Harrigan’s passing, stating, “Our FD had the privilege of working with Isaac on several occasions while he was filling in as our Bois Blanc Island deputy. He was a true friend to the BBIFD, and we share the tremendous grief of his tragic loss.”
Jennifer Nuss added, “God bless the family of this young officer. It is truly the most selfless position to take on. May God wrap his arms around all of his loved ones in this time of unimaginable grief.”
