Bakersfield, California – Lorena De La Torre-Luna, a 47-year-old resident of Bakersfield, tragically lost her life in a car crash on the night of September 28, 2024.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:14 p.m. when De La Torre-Luna’s vehicle was rear-ended by a Dodge Durango while it was stopped along the north curb of East Truxtun Avenue at the intersection with Miller Street.
Authorities suspect that both alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
De La Torre-Luna was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severe impact of the collision.
A passenger in her vehicle was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, who remained at the scene, was taken into custody by Bakersfield Police after being restrained by security guards.
