Cleveland, Ohio – Bill Fogarty, a cherished coach and Cleveland sports enthusiast, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 78.
His death was due to complications from aspirational pneumonia, marking the end of a life dedicated to family, coaching, and community.
Fogarty, known for his coaching of youth bowlers at Fairfield Lanes from the mid-1990s through the early 2000s, had a significant impact on many young lives.
Even after retiring, his love for Cleveland sports, especially the Browns and Cavaliers, remained strong.
In recent years, Fogarty battled diabetes, which led to his admission into 24/7 care in 2018.
His son, Sean Fogarty, announced the news on social media, writing, “My dad Bill Fogarty passed away this morning at 11:15 am… he has had a long, happy life even with the last 5 years being a little rough.”
Condolences poured in from friends and family, including Chris Crash Brunner, who commented, “He was a great man and a good coach. He will be missed. RIP William Bill Fogarty.”
Funeral services are expected to be held in Cleveland next week.
Fogarty’s legacy of kindness, coaching, and love for his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
