Paul Tillison, affectionately known as Pappa T and Uncle Tic, has sadly passed away at the age of 76 after a prolonged battle with COPD. He died on Friday, September 20, 2024, leaving a profound impact on those who knew him, particularly former students from Hewitt-Trussville Jr. High, where he taught from 1963 to 1986.
The family is set to honor his memory with a reception at the Trussville Civic Center on Sunday, October 13th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in the Lilly Room. Many took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of Tillison. "So sorry to hear about your uncle," commented Heather Morris Grinfield, while Wanda Simmons offered "sympathy and prayers" for the family. Susie Scott Adkins noted his lasting impression on students, saying, "He was one of the teachers that left a lifelong impression," and Nancy Garrison Lewis shared her sorrow, stating, "I loved Mr. Tillison… I’m so very sorry!"
