Bart Southerd, the beloved lead singer of the Gospel Messengers, has sadly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of faith, music, and family.
He was diagnosed with ALS just three weeks ago, as shared by Ronald Hutson, a close friend. Southerd’s passing has deeply impacted his loved ones and the Christian community he touched through his music ministry.
David Houck, a longtime friend, expressed his sorrow on social media, remembering Southerd as a devoted Christian man and loving father. He shared, "I have known him for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed his family group, the Gospel Messengers. He will be greatly missed."
Many others also shared their grief online, including Dan Harriman, who wrote, “One Great man… gone too soon, prayers for his wife and children." Cindy Myers added, "Rest in peace my dear friend. I will see you again."
