Barbara Brown, Longtime Woodlawn Resident, Passes Away Peacefully at Age 82

Woodlawn, Bronx – Barbara Brown, a beloved resident of Woodlawn, Bronx, has passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on September 12, 2024. Known for her kindness, humor, and love of life, Barbara left behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born to Anne (McPadden) O’Connor and Robert Graus, Barbara was a lifelong resident of Woodlawn. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and community. Barbara was a devoted mother to her four children: Daniel, Jacqueline Kendall, Matthew, and Christopher. She was also a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, with whom she shared countless joyful moments.

Her warm personality and sense of humor touched the lives of those around her. Friends fondly recall the house parties Barbara hosted, filled with laughter, dancing, and her favorite doo-wop tunes from the 1950s. Her love for the beach, particularly Rockaway and Long Beach, NY, was a constant throughout her life.

Barbara will be remembered for her love of family, her joy in celebrating important moments, and her enduring positivity. She was a loving sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, never missing an opportunity to make those around her feel loved and appreciated.

A final mass in her honor will be held at St. Barnabas Church in Woodlawn on November 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life.

Barbara Brown will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
